Nynäshamn (Stockholm), Sweden

Located about 45 minutes from the quaint port town of Nynäshamn, where cruise ships dock, Sweden’s famous Stockholm was founded on Stadsholmen, a Swedish island. Oh, and it’s still there — but if you check a map you’ll see there’s a bit more Stockholm to go around these days. The city has actually expanded outward, now covering a very impressive (checking our map…) 14 islands! But great stats are just the beginning of what’s cool about Stockholm. This unique geography is predictably perfect for bridge lovers and canal explorers alike, while over on solid ground you’ll find equally cool sights to take in. Some options? Museums, palaces and old-town architecture made up of a delightful smörgåsbord of towers, cathedrals and copper-roofed buildings of all kinds. Plus there’s parkland galore, which accounts for a full 30% of Stockholm’s square meterage.
