Carnival Australia

Formed in 2004, Carnival Australia is a division of Carnival Corp, and is the backbone of the cruise industry in this region with the P&O Cruises brand sailing from Australia for 78 years. We represent six of the international cruise brands in the local market: P&O Cruises, P&O World Voyages, Cunard, Princess Cruises, Costa Cruises and Seabourn.

Over the past five years, Carnival Australia has expanded its operations from one cruise ship sailing from Sydney to five ships sailing year round from Sydney, Melbourne, Fremantle, Newcastle and Auckland under the local brands of P&O Cruises and Princess Cruises. A sixth superliner will be added to the local fleet in December this year.

The expanding local fleet has created opportunities for developing new homeports as well as launching new itineraries featuring new destinations such as Christmas Island and Indonesia.

In addition, coastal cruises and around-Australia itineraries have provided a significant boost to regional towns, which benefit from day visits by 2000 cruise passengers.

Cruising is the stand-out success story of tourism. The most recent industry figures show about 330,000 Australians are cruising each year - a jump of 26% in just 12 months.

An Access Economics The Australian cruise sector report issued last month shows that the Australian cruise industry's contribution to the national economy rose 54% to A$1.2 billion in 2007-08 - far exceeding general tourism activity which is more modest. Forecasts indicate the industry will be carrying one million passengers by 2020 and contributing more than A$3 billion to the national economy provided infrastructure impediments are removed.

P&O Cruises

P&O Cruises has been sailing from Australia for 78 years, but in the past five years P&O Cruises has expanded its operations from one cruise ship, based in Sydney, to three cruise ships sailing year round from the ports of Sydney, Brisbane, Fremantle, Newcastle and Auckland. P&O Cruises will welcome a fourth ship to its fleet in December 2010.
