Canoe Experience: Enjoy a traditional Maori welcome before you climb into a waka, a Maori canoe that seats several people. You will immediately feel the pride and spirituality of your Maori guide. Take your paddle and glide your way up the peaceful, tranquil estuaries of the Waitangi River aboard this traditional vessel. Watch for the beautiful Haruru Falls (tide permitting) and visit a 1,000-year-old Maori site.
Requirements & Restriction: Minimum age – 12 years. Not recommended for guests who may have difficulties undertaking reasonably strenuous exercise (paddling).
What to Bring: Comfortable flat-soled shoes, clothing suited to the weather conditions, a hat and jacket, plenty of biodegradable sunscreen and bottled water.
Good to Know: Be prepared to get wet. Please be aware that cultural norms in this area might include instances of local villagers engaging in nudity.
