Rabaul, Papua New Guinea
Rabaul is located in the East New Britain province, in Papua New Guinea. In 1994 Mt Tavurvur, on the southeast of the island erupted over Rabaul and the Simpson Harbour. Much of this beautiful city was buried in ash.
Rabaul has since returned to life and the harbour has never been more impressive. The island also features kilometres of tunnels located underground that were built by the Japanese during it's occupation during World War 2.
