Lifou’s Jinek Bay is one of the Pacific Islands’ most pristine marine ecologies. It holds one of the world’s most diverse ranges of coral and more than 2,000 fish species. Due to the volume of visitors to its pristine waters, this haven was slowly being destroyed. The local community got together with this cruise company to make sure it’s beauty is preserved.
The Marine Reserve Pass helps reduce environmental impact, as well as helping locals maintain this priceless attraction.Depart the tender wharf on a short self-guided walk over to Jinek Bay. You’ll be met by the community custodian, who will exchange your ticket for a wristband, giving you access to the water during your allotted time. Please make sure you read the visitor guidelines as well as a short history on Jinek Bay and the Marine Preservation project upon arrival.
