Carnival Cruise Line launches expanded fleet
Carnival Cruise Line officially launched its expanded Australian fleet today, with Carnival Adventure and Carnival Encounter ready to set sail on their maiden voyages. This marks the start of an exciting new chapter for cruising in Australia, bringing even more FUN to local holidaymakers.
To mark the occasion, Carnival Adventure made a spectacular arrival into Sydney Harbour this morning, welcomed by two water-spraying tugboats and a giant floating Cruise Captain, setting the tone for a bold new era. Throughout the day, hundreds of special guests will step aboard to celebrate and experience the ship’s fresh new look and exciting onboard offerings following its Carnival transformation.
Previously known as Pacific Adventure and Pacific Encounter, the ships have been reimagined to deliver Carnival’s signature FUN while retaining some of P&O’s most-loved elements.
Speaking in Sydney, Carnival Cruise Line President Christine Duffy said today marks a significant milestone for Australian cruising. “Carnival Cruise Line is proud to strengthen its commitment to the millions of Australians who love to cruise. As the world’s most popular cruise line, we’re thrilled to offer great-value, memory-making holidays packed with FUN for families and friends.”
Following the sunsetting of the P&O Cruises Australia brand, Carnival now boasts four ships in Australia, offering year-round cruise holidays from home. Carnival Adventure and Carnival Splendor sail from Sydney, while Carnival Encounter and Carnival Luminosa sail from Brisbane, making Carnival the only global cruise line to offer Aussies non-stop FUN at sea.
More than 500,000 people are expected to cruise with Carnival in Australia in 2025, departing from Sydney and Brisbane. The cruise industry contributes more than $8 billion annually to the national economy, with Carnival Cruise Line alone delivering $2 billion.
