Cruise Otago Harbour, Taiaroa Head, discover its wildlife and visit the breeding areas of one of the world’s largest seabirds, the Northern Royal Albatross. Cruise part of Otago Harbor and view stunning scenery with informative guided commentary about the geology and history of the area. At Tairoa Head, get up close to the only mainland colony of the Northern Royal Albatross with its impressive three-meter wingspan. You’ll also see a breeding colony of New Zealand fur seals and up to twenty other species of marine birds.
Limited binoculars are provided on a share basis; bring along your own binoculars to enhance your views. There is a walk of approximately 200 meters to reach your tour vessel. Several steps lead into the boat and as a result for safety reasons, guests with mobility difficulties may not participate on this excursion. Wildlife sightings are never guaranteed. Please wear comfortable flat-soled shoes, clothing suited to the weather conditions, a hat and jacket, and bring plenty of biodegradable sunscreen and bottled water.
